AREG Summer Daytime Fox Hunt & BYO Picnic – Sunday March 5 @ 12pm

The next AREG hosted fox hunt is planned to be a daytime family “hand held, on foot” style hunt and BYO picnic event, held in Drage Reserve, Felixtow, just 6km north east of the city centre (near the Kelmzig O-Bahn bus interchange). Members and visitors are welcome to join us in the park from 12.00pm, on Sunday the 5th of March, 2023.

AREG will deploy 6 beacon transmitters on the 2m amateur band (144MHz) throughout the park. The challenge will be to see who can find all of them the fastest!

For those who dont have any equipment, take a look at (this design) by NT1K! It is very simple and quick to put together! Add a variable attenuator and a receiver and you are away!

If you don’t have any gear but want to give it a try, AREG will have at least 1-2 loan sets of gear available, based on the very popular VK3YNG sniffer receivers, or we can arrange to buddy you up with one of the club members who do have equipment so you can get a first taste of fox hunting ARDF style.

If you’re not into fox hunting, but would still like to gather with all of us from AREG, we are also promoting this event as the AREG Summer BYO Picnic for 2023. Just bring your own rugs, chairs, and food and drinks.

AREG has picked this location as it has lots of amenities for all of the family. There are public BBQs, a kids playground and public toilets in the area as well as ample parking in the Drage Reserve car park. The check-in point will be marked with AREG Flags and will be located on the south side of the river Torrens near the Riverside Park western BBQ area (west of the play ground closest to the Drage Reserve Car Park).

This will be a family freindly event with people of all ages welcome to join in, however children must be kept under the supervision of an accompanying adult at all times.

We will also endeavor to have someone monitor the VK5RSB 70cm repeater on 439.900 (91.5Hz CTCSS access tone) to help guide anyone in who is having problems finding us.

November FOXHUNT – This Friday 6.30pm

The next monthly AREG Foxhunt will be run this coming Friday starting 6.30pm from the Adelaide Aquatic Centre car park. Hunts will run on 2m and 70cm.

Liaison will be on the Summertown 70cm repeater which operates on 439.900 (-5MHz) 91.5CTCSS.

The event is open to anyone with radio direction finding equipment and will span most of the Adelaide metropolitan area. We would love to see you there!

September FOXHUNT – This Friday 6.30pm

Liaison will be on the Summertown 70cm repeater which operates on 439.900 (-5MHz) 91.5CTCSS.

The event is open to anyone with radio direction finding equipment and will span most of the Adelaide metropolitan area. We would love to see you there!

 

REMINDER: Next Adelaide 2m/70cm Foxhunt TONIGHT @ 6:30pm

The next AREG Adelaide 2m and 70cm Fox-hunt event will be held on Friday August 12th. It will once again commence from  the car-park of the Adelaide Aquatic Centre, off Jeffcott Road, North Adelaide. Hounds can assemble from 6.00pm with departure at 6.30pm. Three fox transmitters will again be active on 144.390 MHz, 145.300 MHz, and 439.4 MHz.

The event is open to anyone to enter. Inter-team liaison occurs via the VK5RSB 439.900MHz  (-5MHz with 91.5Hz CTCSS tone access) Adelaide Metro area repeater. Hounds are asked to announce their presence on the repeater if they are late and are joining from other locations.

Next Fox Hunt: Friday June 24

This Friday night, being the second Friday of the month, would have usually seen our monthly fox hunt being held, however many AREG members and friends are off to the South Australian Riverland this weekend to provide communications assistance in the annual River Paddling Marathon, therefore our June fox hunt has been pushed back to Friday the 24th of June.

As usual, the hunt commences at 6:30pm from the car park at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre, with hunters meeting around 15 minutes prior.

All of our fox hunts are open to all to join us, you do not need to be a member of AREG to join in on the fun.

We look forward to seeing you on the night.

Next Fox Hunt – Tomorrow Night!

AREG had hoped to hold a combined foot based hunt and picnic in a park for our January hunt however due to the current COVID saga in Adelaide, the committee has decided not to proceed with this, so we have decided to hold our usual car hunt instead – apologies for the late notice.

The hunt will commence from the usual meeting place at the southern end of the car park at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre. Hunters usually meet from 6.15pm and the hunt begins at 6.30pm.

Liaison will be via the Summertown UHF Repeater on 439.900MHz (-5MHz Input with 91.5Hz CTCSS).

As usual, everyone is welcome to join in on the fun, you don’t need to be a member of AREG to participate. We hope you can make it!
