Special Event Stations – What are they?
A popular amateur radio activity is to activate stations using special radio callsigns to commemorate special events. Examples in the past have celebrated the Australian Bicentenial, the closure of the VIA Coast Radio station in Adelaide (VI5VIA).
In 2015 there will be activations of several stations of significance including VI5ANZAC and VK100ANZAC to commemorate 100 years since the first ANZAC landings at Gallipoli in World War One.
This category will contain details of AREG’s involvement with special event stations.
