Website Updates

Some may have noticed that the AREG website is slowly being updated and changed as time permits.

Of note is the Upcoming Events page now works properly and all General Meetings have been added for the next 12 months.  These dates are tentative and may change as we get closer to the date, so members should watch the website for final details.  However it is nice to be able to fill in our diaries this early in the year.

In time much of the previous content will be added back to the website as we all learn what we can do with this WordPress site.

AREG General Meeting 18th Jan 2013

Happy New Year !

The Amateur Radio Experimenters Group next general meeting is Friday the 18th of January 2013.

This months meeting is yet another general get together, we need to ease into 2013.   Last month was a record turn out in what has been dubbed “the unofficial Xmas party”.  The night was a combination dinner and informal get together with all the trappings.  It was certainly great to just have a night off and enjoy the company of other members.  An event that will certainly be repeated at the end of this year.

So if you are interested in Amateur Radio then come along and visit at an AREG meeting, find out what the AREG is up to and participate in an evening with other amateur radio operators.

Coffee, tea, cake will be available for a gold coin donation for supper, that is provided we can remember where we left the money tin, coffee and biscuits last year.

We hope to see you there.

AREG Informal Meeting 21st December 2012

The Amateur Radio Experimenters Group next meeting is Friday the 21st of December 2012.

This month will see no formal meeting take place, it is the silly season after all.  Instead we will have the coffee, cake and mince pies on early in the evening allowing members and vistors to simply mingle, catch up and chat one last time for 2012 !

There is talk of a service monitor being present and an 828 being tweaked up in the corner, so if you have a radio you’d like spec checked by our crack team of radio tune-up specialists, then here’s your chance 🙂

For the early birds that like a drop of red cordial or something nice for tea before the meeting we have arranged a table at the Lockleys Hotel starting at 18:00 hours.  If you do intend on dropping in please contact me to reserve your spot, I’m not that hard to find on the net (hint: qrz.com)

So come along and visit at an AREG meeting, find out what the AREG is up to and participate in an informal evening with other amateur radio operators.

We hope to see you there.

AREG General Meeting 16th November 2012

The Amateur Radio Experimenters Group next general meeting is Friday the 16th of November 2012.  So this coming Friday !

This months meeting is another general get together.  Last month saw a good number of members attend, and certainly a good night was had by all.  I’d certainly encourage any members that have been doing interesting things to continue to bring in their projects for others to oggle and discuss.

The invitation for the evening is extended to all persons who may be interested in amateur radio, AREG’s activities and see an amateur radio club in action, however the evening will be primarily focused around AREG’s activities, past, present and future.

So come along and visit at an AREG meeting, find out what the AREG is up to and participate in an evening with other amateur radio operators.

Coffee, tea, cake will be on for supper, that is provided we can remember where we left it last month.

We hope to see you there.

AREG General Meeting 19th October 2012

The Amateur Radio Experimenters Group next general meeting is Friday the 19th of October 2012.  For those with out a calendar, iPhone or Android device handy that is this coming Friday.

With the nights at last warming up at last it is time to break out of our winter shack hibernation and venture out to the next AREG meeting.  How quickly a month passes.

This months meeting is another general get together.  Last month saw a good number of members attend, and certainly a good night was had by all.  The formal part of the meeting will be kept to as short a time as possible, we set a record last month at just shy of 30 minutes.  We’d certainly like to better this record in the coming months.   I’d certainly encourage any members that have been doing something interesting over the last few weeks or months to bring it along for an impromptu show and tell.

Coffee, tea, cake will be on for supper, that is provided one the incoming executive have learnt how to use petty cash.

We hope to see you there.

AREG General Meeting 21st Sept 2012

AREG’s next general meeting is Friday the 21st of Sept 2012.

This meeting will be a general meeting/gathering and the first for the new committee, so be nice !   The formal part of the meeting will be kept to as short a time as possible.   I’d certainly encourage any members that have been doing something interesting over the last few winter months to bring it along for an impromptu show and tell.

Spring is upon us and the weather is warming up, so I hope this sees more members venture out of an evening away from the safety of the family heater or foot warmer (amplifier) under the bench in the Hamshack.

Coffee, tea, cake will be on for supper that is provided one of the new executive remember to do so.

And…. we’re back

Well after a short hiatus the AREG website is back.  After having suffered server failure and dealing with a less than friendly domain registrar we’ve taken the liberty of changing from physical to virtual servers, rebuilding databases, setting up better backups and rejiggering our entire domain and settings.  Fingers crossed we can leave it in auto pilot for some time.
