AREG General Meeting 17th January 2014

Happy New Year !

The Amateur Radio Experimenters Group next general meeting is Friday the 17th of January 2014.

This month will be a very rare event with two meetings needing to be held on the same night.   There will be a 20-25 minute “close door” meeting for members starting at 8pm sharp in the computer room.  All members that are attending are asked to make an effort to be down to the club rooms at 7:45pm.  Visitors are welcome to arrive at the usual start time, tea coffee and biscuits will be available for a gold coin donation out in the kitchen while the first meeting is in progress.

At 8:30pm the usual monthly meeting will be held in the main hall for all attending, after which we’ll adjourn for coffee, tea and the remaining biscuits that our guest have left for us (*grin*).

There are opportunities for Dinner at the Lockley’s beforehand, please let me know if you are going to attend by 12pm Friday, table bookings are essential.

We look forward to seeing you at the first meeting of 2014…

AREG Christmas BBQ 22nd December 2013

To mark the end of another year the AREG will be having a BYO Christmas BBQ for members, friends and family in Bonython park on the 22nd of December 2013.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

The BBQ will be held by the banks of the River Torrens close to the Kiosk, starting at 11am.  A marquee and table will be available to hold food/plates etc.   The day will be BYO everything ie meat, drinks, chairs and salads.  I was going to suggest that salads could be placed on a table to share.

There are electric BBQ’s in this area that can be used to cook food, and a playground for the kids.   There are also shady trees that I’m sure a HF longwire (or two) will be slung into.

The following map will get you into the right location (CLICK).  Liasion will be via VK5RSA 438.025MHz.

We hope to see you there.

AREG AGM Results 2013/2014

The AREG AGM was held on Friday the 20th of September.  After the AGM the following Executive positions changes were;

  • President – Matthew VK5ZM
  • Secretary – Mark VK5QI
  • Tresurer – Scott VK5TST

At this meeting Adrian VK5ZBR stepped down as club secretary after 15 years of various executive roles, the majority as Secretary and a short stint as Tresurer.  I am sure that everyone with AREG would like to thank Adrian for all of these years of (hard) service to the club and we thank him for continuing on as a Committee Member.

We would also like to welcome Mark VK5QI to the position of Secretary.  Mark has been a member of AREG for two years (if I can count!) serving the past 12 months on the committee.

Also we’d like to welcome Andy VK5AKH, Adrian VK5ZBR and Andrew VK5XFG to the AREG committee and thank Ben VK5BB and Alex VK5FINE for continuing on for another term.

AREG AGM followed by General Meeting September 2013

The Amateur Radio Experimenters Group will hold their Annual General Meeting on September the 20th 2013.  This will be followed by a General Meeting afterwards.

Members are reminded that nominations for executive positions are still open, so if you feel moved to join the exec team and make a difference this year then make sure you put your hand up tomorrow.

The general meeting will be the usual short get together followed by general discussions among members.  The Oceania DX Competition is only a few weeks away and many members are preparing themselves and the club to participate.  I’m sure there will be plenty to discuss and things in cars brought out for an impromptu show and tell.

As usual a pre-meeting dinner has been organised by our newest member Theo VK5MTM, so if you haven’t already booked a position on the table at the Lockleys then I suggest you get up on the mailing reflector quick smart.

We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

AREG General Meeting July 18th 2013

The Amateur Radio Experimenters Group next general meeting is Friday the 18th of July 2013.

This month will be a combined event with WICEN.   WICEN have arranged a speaker from ALERT SA to visit the Reedbeds and give a presentation about how social media and other emerging technologies are finding a place in South Australian Emergency Services daily operation.  Doors open 7:45pm, speaker starts at 8pm sharp !

After the presentation WICEN will hold their AGM in the main hall while AREG adjourns to it’s usual meeting room for a brief general meeting.  After both meetings are closed we will meet together again for a chin-wag, coffee and cake in the kitchen area until stumps.

I hope to see many AREG members on Friday and look forward to meeting the new WICEN committee and its members.

We hope to see you there.
