Radio Direction Finding (Fox Hunting)

Hi All
Those hounds wishing to take part in foxhunting a BOM WX balloon should meet at Mannum on the West side just past the ferry landing. Be there at ready to hunt at 10am.

After the recovery of the BOM balloon those wishing to observe the launch of the HORUS Ham balloon should be at the VK5GH/ZCH farm for a scheduled lift of around 13:30hrs. Hound may or may not go to the launch site, it is up to them, as there will be plenty of time to chase balloon from launch to landing.

Hounds need RDF capability on 2m or 70cm. Alternately a 70cm ssb rx, laptop and dlfldigi software (see http://projecthorus.org/) to decode the Balloon telemetry and follow to landing zone.

This link http://spacenear.us/tracker/ will show the proceedings on line in real time for those with internet access.

We will do it on Saturday and Sunday. Also a Night hunt on Saturday for those interested.

We use 145.275 MHz PL 107.2 Hz simplex which will also be the HORUS package active when airborne.
VK5RSB 439.900 MHz enroute to scene linked to 6875 which is at the shack, mobile RX 433.025 TX 438.025 (5RSA reverse).
Lofty rpt 147.00 or M.Bridge rpt 146.875 for car to car when on the chase but in this case we will probably use the HORUS rpt.
HF usually 7.055 or 3.610.

Any questions please ask.
