How to Solar Power your HAM Shack - talk by Peter VK5TZX

Peter will make a presentation on the design, construction and implementation of a solar based power supply system for your ham shack (or home).

Subject materials that will be covered are;

• Solar PV Module Types,
• Solar PV Module Selection,
• Factors affecting efficiency,
• Determining system size,
• Government Regulations and their impact,
• Roof Top mounting systems,
• Solar PV Regulator Types, advantages / disadvantages.
• Batteries.

Future meetings will feature D-Star for Dummies and Balloon Hunting with an opportunity to participate in a real balloon Hunt on the following Saturday.

18th June 2010

At the next AREG meeting which will be held on Friday 18 June 2010 at 8.00pm Chris VK5CP will provide a repeat of a presentation made at the Dayton Hamvention in May 2010 on 'A Century of Contesting Downunder', a review of the Contest IUniversity conducted prior to the Hamvention, show some pictures taken at Dayton and do a show and tell on some of the new toys he collected on the way including the Byonics 10W APRS tracker , the new D-StarV Access Point for home use, and a practical demonstration of the RF Space SDR-IQ recevier and its use in the CW Skimmer reverse beacon network. Chris will be ably assisted by VK5ZSN in the practical demonstration.
